VANTeC, SA, was founded in 1991, having 25 years of experience in the markets where it operates. It began its activity by integrating computer graphics and image processing solutions, and worked, since its beginning, with the leading manufacturers of those days such as NeXT, SGI, Parallax or Alias.
Throughout the years, the company acquired a vast experience in the areas of Real-time Graphics, either for Sports, News or Entertainment, with solutions for Virtual Set Systems and Augmented Reality, Camera Tracking, Motion Capture and Camera Robotics. That means any graphics element including lower 3rd, graphics for LED walls, full screen graphics, virtual set or augmented reality are created with same tools and same workflow using same playout tool. Virtual Studio Consulting Project: Consulting project for TV3 (TV Cataluña, Barcelona) in the creation of their 5th virtual studio to produce national news and 24/7 news channel. The studio is a combination of Real and Virtual sets, and has become the world’s biggest infrared virtual studio. The studio is composed of 7 studio cameras (3 of which are robotic cameras) and 1 crane, all of them with complete free camera movement.

VANTeC delivered the integration of the new Graphics Global workflow systems at SIC. The global project, carried together with SIC team, is based in a innovative Video IP infra-structure SMPTE 2110.With a centralized Gfx infra-structure SIC produces all the graphics templates for all areas using same tools and same workflow. These workflows provide to a massive Graphics systems including 48 Powerwall channels to fill big LED Walls, 10 channels for AR and Virtual with full camera movement freedom, 14 videographics channels, 6 graphics channels, all over a centralized infra-structure, serving 3 studios.The system allows SIC to have a full end-to-end solution for Graphics, from the creation to playout, with full management capabilities, with an “easy to use” philosophy and a redundant architecture for all graphics using always same tools and workflow.
Universidade Lusófona contracted VANTeC to delivered a modern motion capture system to serve both the bio-mechanics and the entertainment needs of MovLab. The system is based in a VICON system using Nexus and Shogun software, equipped with 10 modern Vicon infra-red cameras and 2 high-speed video cameras.The system will be integrated at the Lisbon Campo Grande facility and will be used to serve several different projects from body track, animation or horse movement analysis.
VANTeC organized an event about Video IP production last 15th November at Lisbon. The event took place at Auditório João Soares Louro at RTP Academy, a educational institution belonging to RTP, public channel. The event was open to the community and more then 70 people was present from different broadcasters, producers or media companies. The event had an introduction performed by Alex Roriz and a workshop performed by Pedro Ferreira, specialist on Video IP, EBU/Eurovision consultant and trainee.
VANTeC integrated for University of Algarve a biomechanics laboratory to study the analysis of human movement. The laboratory was adapted physically, force platforms to measure the pressure and angle of movement, a EMG system to measure the electromyography data all integrated with a VICON motion capture system. The lab will be used to analyse human movement and research on rehabilitation. This will be a unique facility in the entire southern region of Portugal.
